Sara Beth A.R. Kohut, Esq.

With more than 20 years experience, Sara Beth has worked with a variety of clients on a diverse range of legal matters. She began her career with a large Delaware law firm, litigating matters involving issues of corporate governance, contract disputes, patent infringement, and intellectual property disputes. Her practice evolved into trademark counseling and prosecution, as well advising clients on copyright, trade secret, and other intellectual property matters.

Sara Beth spent more than a decade advising legal representatives for future claimants in mass-tort bankruptcy cases and post-bankruptcy settlement trusts, including matters involving asbestos, silica, opioid, and abuse claims. She has also served as counsel to mass-tort settlement trusts and to an entity that provided services to mass-tort settlement trusts. In those roles, she advised clients on matters relating to drafting/negotiation of trust documents and distribution procedures, fiduciary duties, data analysis, data protection, confidentiality agreements, and contract negotiation.

She has also advised and assisted clients on a variety of data-protection matters, including privacy policies, data protection policies, board oversight duties, website/internet agreements, document-retention policies, cyber-insurance, intellectual property protection, vendor management, data-breach response, data-protection training/awareness, and negotiation of technology, data-sharing and data-processing contracts.

Sara Beth has also monitored proposed legislation and prepared advocacy pieces on behalf of clients, as well as coordinating client updates regarding legislative and litigation developments affecting data-protection matters and asbestos settlement trusts. She frequently writes and speaks on data protection matters, including presenting programs for bar associations and private groups on professional duties to safeguard sensitive information, as well as privacy and data security guidance for professionals and individuals.

Although based in Delaware, Sara Beth’s engagements have involved litigation and clients located across the country. She also works as a freelance writer, editor, and historian.
